About

Hello and welcome to the Catholic Homebody! This a lifestyle blog designed to inspire and help you in fixing up your domestic church in all areas of home life: faith, family, home improvement and decor, and home educating. I invite to come in and see a glimpse of my own home; a place where I strive in creating a charming and pleasant atmosphere for my family to love to call home and grow in holiness.

“Sometimes she must leave God at the altar, and find Him in her housekeeping.” – St Frances of Rome

The person behind the Catholic Homebody:

I am Roxanne and as you can probably guess from the name of the blog I am a total homebody. My husband and I were both cradle Catholics but reverted in 2008/2009 when we received the sacrament of Holy Matrimony at the young age of 19 and 23. One of the nice things about being married so young is we get to grow up together. As of now, we have six wild but amazing blessings (with one in heaven) ages ranging from ages 10 years old to a few months old. We currently live in a modest home in Northern Virginia where we attempt to live more intentionally and minimally. Living on a blue collar’s pay in a two income world can be very challenging and that is why I strive to make frugal a bit more fruitful. I like to think of myself as creative, I have strong passions for pregnancy/birth, and love DIY projects. I am not an expert by any means but a jack of all trades.

We are also a homeschooling family. This was a decision my husband and I made before even getting pregnant with our first baby. My main goal in home educating my children is for them to know, love, and serve the Lord along with learning the beautiful teachings of the Catholic Church. Homeschooling is a major part of our lives. For us, it is a way of life. We have a heavy influence of Charlotte Mason’s philosophy within our educational methods but overall I am eclectic.

Catholic Homebody:

I first started a blog, Lifting Up Treehouse, a few years ago as a digital scrapbook/ journal outlet, but there was no consistency. I had always dreamed about having a “real blog” but was always too intimidated. At the beginning of 2017, I decided to take my blogging more seriously but as of mid-2019, I have decided that Lifting Up Treehouse was no longer relevant to my goals as a blogger and rebranded to the Catholic Homebody. Here you will read about our Catholic faith, how I manage my large family lifestyle while on a tight budget, living minimally, our homeschool journey, DIY home design & improvement, and the occasional dose of “a day in the life” of our family.

HOMEMAKER - What do you think of when you hear tha HOMEMAKER - What do you think of when you hear that word? It seems like this term has become almost a bad word to describe women. A word of oppression, anti-feminism, an undignified thing for a woman to identify as. Well, I AM A HOMEMAKER. God has called me to the vocation as a wife and mother. It is in our home that I will teach my children about God, our faith, virtue, order, and holiness. My work in the home is me saying “Yes, I will serve and love You by serving and loving my family today” and that is empowering. Being a homemaker is a blessing.

Every baptized person should consider that it is i Every baptized person should consider that it is in the womb of the Church where he is transformed from a child of Adam to a child of God. - St. Vincent Ferrer

Pax Leviticus was baptized yesterday, February 13th 2021.
I was so nervous that it might have been canceled due to the weather but thanks be to God that we were able to still have it done.

I am so excited for @blessedisshe__ ‘s Set A Fir I am so excited for @blessedisshe__ ‘s Set A Fire Lenten devotional this year! I even got the Set A Fire Kids. I am super stocked about these books and just had to share.

Since I am in the postpartum season of motherhood and I am still trying to get back on track with our daily routine I am not planning a whole lot this Lent.

I can post soon in more detail about what we will be doing (maybe in stories🤔) if you’re interested.

Now that we are a little over half way through the Now that we are a little over half way through the school year and baby Pax is here, I recently did a homeschool pulse check. Sometimes I get an overwhelming feeling of “We’re behind!!” or “I’m failing because we barely get to X,Y,Z). Reminding myself of all the things we have done help me realize how much we have accomplished. This year has not been perfect but what is.

We just added this table since we’ve been doing a lot of our studies in the living room. So far it’s been nice to be able to comfortably do any schoolwork that requires writing and/ or workbooks.

I have been feeling more motivated and full of ene I have been feeling more motivated and full of energy since having Pax. Yesterday was my 31st birthday and instead of making New Year resolutions, I guess you can say I'm making birthday resolutions. I have a ton of projects planned for the home, we're finally getting back to a full schedule in our homeschool, and I am trying to be better organized.

Last month, I made these monthly calendar pages for 2021 that include holidays, holy days of obligations, and Marian feast days that I keep up in my kitchen. I am not the best at keeping track of important dates but this calendar will definitely be a huge help. For those interested, my 2021 calendar pages are listed on my Etsy shop and since it's my birthday month, everything is 31% off with the code YAY31
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Has anyone made new years resolutions this year? What about birthday resolutions?

Roman is TWO years old today! It seems like yeste Roman is TWO years old today!
It seems like yesterday that he was only the size of Pax. Now he is this rambunctious little boy. We love him so much and can’t wait to see how he grows this year (maybe not so much the tantrums😜).

Saint Titus pray for us 🖤
