ST. ANTHONY OF PADUA FEAST DAY ACTIVITIES: SIMPLE WAYS TO CELEBRATE SAINT ANTHONY

June 7, 2021

In today’s post, I’m sharing with you a bunch of St. Anthony of Padua feast day activities ideas along with a couple free St. Anthony printables.

St Anthony of Padua is one of the most called upon saints in my house, as I’m sure for many other busy Catholic homes too. I can’t even tell you how many times we lose the tv remotes, a favorite toy, or one of our biggest problems, shoes. Saint Anthony has helped us out so many times that I felt his feast day would have been perfect for the month of June. Here are some facts about St. Anthony of Padua.

Quick Facts About St. Anthony of Padua

  • He entered the religious order of St. Augustine at the age of 15.

  • He changed his name from Fernando Martins to Anthony when he joined to Franciscan Order.
  • St Anthony was a phenomenal preacher.

“A ray of light enables us to see the dust that is in the air. In the same way, the lives of the Saints show us our defects. If we fail to see our faults, it is because we have not looked at the lives of holy men and women.”

Food for St. Anthony of Padua Feast Day

Recipe Girl has a bunch of delicious Portuguese recipes that would be great for St Anthony’s feast day. Personally, I can’t decide between making the Portuguese sweet bread or doughnuts.

Because one of the miracles of St. Anthony is him preaching to fish, snacks like Goldfish or Swedish fish would be fun snacks for St. Anthony’s feast day.

Legend of St. Anthony Preaching to the Fish

St. Anthony went to the city of Rimini to preach to the people. No one listened to him and ignored him. So he went to the Marecchia River and began to preach to the fish. When he did this, thousands of fish came gathering around as if listening to Anthony. People were so astonished by this miracle that they too began to listen to St. Anthony’s sermon. Many of the people’s hearts changed.
