O Great Saint Gerard, beloved servant of Jesus Christ, perfect imitator of your meek and humble Savior, and devoted Child of the Mother of God: enkindle within my heart one spark of that heavenly fire of charity which glowed in your heart and made you an angel of love. O glorious Saint Gerard, because when falsely accused of a crime, you did bear, like your Divine Master, without murmur or complaint, the calumnies of wicked men, you have been raised up by God as the Patron and Protector of expectant mothers. Preserve me from danger and from the excessive pains accompanying childbirth, and shield the child which I now carry, that it may see the light of day and receive the lustral waters of baptism through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Coloring Pages:

Color or paint a picture of Saint Gerard. We will be using this coloring page from the Catholic Kid.

There are other coloring page options from Saints to Color and Drawn 2b Creative.

Serve God like Saint Gerard:

Saint Gerard served the community, was a gardener, sacristan, porter, cook, carpenter, and tailor. Think of ways your family can serve God like Saint Gerard: altar server, sacristy (D.O.V.E.S.), help clean the chapel, sign up to clean the sacred linens, etc..

Mapping:

St. Gerard was born Muro Lucano (Basilicata region), Italy. Have the kids look up where he’s from on a map. Here is a map of Italy you can print and color.

Cooking:

Make Italian food and have the kids help! You can use any Italian food recipe you like. If you don’t have time to look into an authentic Italian dish, your family’s favorite spaghetti dish is perfectly fine. We will be making homemade meatball and spaghetti.

3 years ago today, I received the devastating news 3 years ago today, I received the devastating news that we lost our baby at my 9-week prenatal appointment. I remember the doctor being so nonchalant about it and me feeling so confused and in such disbelief. The whole process of the miscarriage was completely frustrating. I was angry at my body because it wasn't doing anything. I remember a couple of weeks later as I was waiting to be taken back for a d&c being in such despair that I would officially be no longer pregnant.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Time does truly heal. The hurt isn't as bad. Although I still think about the what-ifs occasionally, it's no longer accompanied by pain. I almost feel bad that it doesn't hurt anymore but that is part of the healing I guess. I hope to meet my little Francis (the name we decided to give him/her) one day in heaven. Until then I am blessed to have my own little saint that is apart of me to pray for me. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

It’s so amazing all the little things we mothers It’s so amazing all the little things we mothers become experts in. Sometimes these things may seem totally trivial or random but it’s proof of a mother’s love and homemaker’s heart.
Example: how mothers become experts in all the food preferences of the many different people in her home. And not only that but also knows how to provide/ prepare food for all those different preferences. I know (too well) that doing this can be annoying at times but it’s actually really amazing if you think about it. No one knows how to feed your family like you do.

It’s Friday, therefore menu planning day. I would love some inspiration so what’s on your menu coming up for the week or are you not quite ready to think that far ahead yet?

Confession heals, confession justifies, confession Confession heals, confession justifies, confession grants pardon of sin, all hope consists in confession; in confession there is a chance for mercy.
--St. Isidore of Seville
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I have always had a special devotion to confession. I didn't realize this until I was an adult. Confession is actually one of my favorite sacraments (not that I could really choose a favorite since they are all amazing). Even in my teen/ early adult years when I wasn't living a faithful life I always felt called to confession and always found it so comforting.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My mother's influence taught me confession is a beautiful thing. It's not this embarrassing, scary, weird thing that society (and even some Catholics I know) make it to be. It's not just about our sins and failures but about the graces, love, mercy, healing, and strength we get from the Holy Spirit. My goal as a mother is to instill a love and devotion to the sacrament of reconciliation in my children. This is what inspired me to create a Confession Guide for Kids.

Seven kids = A LOT OF LAUNDRY. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Laundry is one of those menial tasks that I am always doing. It can definitely feel daunting, especially when I have let it go too long. But you know what, when you look at that mountain of clothes with gratitude instead of frustration, it lightens the load (see what I did there). A lot of these clothes are hand-me-downs. I am thankful for the memories I have of multiple kids going through the same pajamas. Through washing and folding these clothes, I am for the kids they clothe. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The Pikachu pajama use to be my oldest and has been handed down through four kids! They’re now Ignatius’ (the fifth)! I use to get annoyed by how often I washed this but now it actually makes me happy knowing that all the kids have worn it. They get so excited when they are big enough to wear it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
